Because of the health and safety concern of our society members and the uncertainty of time of our National Emergency caused by the Corona virus pandemic, the Society’s Board of Directors elected to cancel this year’s conference.
The next SVHFS conference will be scheduled for April of 2021 at an unknown venue at this time. All registration fees for 2020 will be returned in full. Please cancel any Hotel reservations you may have made.
Update – March 30, 2020:
- The Ramada Inn has cancelled all room reservations and will issue any refunds due to members. They suggest that each person that has booked a reservation call the hotel directly to verify the cancellation and their refund. The number is 770-531-0907.
- Refunds for conference fees are being processed and are being sent out to members.
- Discussions are underway to determine the best way to distribute proceedings. More information about this later.

Pre-Registration will run until April 15, 2020, offering a $5 discount off the regular attendance cost. Please register early so we can plan accordingly for capacity and estimating meal costs.
The 2020 SVHFS Conference will be held in Gainesville, Georgia on April 24-25, 2020. Gainesville, GA is approximately 60 miles north of Atlanta in EM84ch. It is about 1.5 miles from I-985.
The conference will be held at the Ramada Inn, centrally located in Gainesville with easy access to Gainesville Square and numerous dining options within a 2-3 block walking distance.
Hotel Information
The venue for the conference and lodging is at the Ramada Inn in Gainesville, GA. Reservations are currently being accepted, and the conference rate is $80 per night. Transportation Options
Airports – Atlanta Hartsfield Airport – 63 miles; Greenville, SC Airport – 115 miles.
Train – There is an Amtrak station in Gainesville, GA just a few blocks from the hotel. The train is the Crescent and runs between New York and New Orleans with a number of intermediate stops. The schedule can be found here.
